of fur around their bodies, which gives them the appearance of a sideways
Oreo. The Aldermere Farms Ocean Trail is a short half-mile walk to a beach full of large, smooth rocks. Welcome Center (Hours: 8:30 am–3:30 pm) Located to the left of the Aldermere Farmhouse 20 Russell Avenue Rockport, Maine 04856 |

Rockport | Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse | Rockport, ME | 9-Oct-25 | Rockport, ME | 9-Oct-25 | The
Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse is located at the end of a 7/8-mile long
breakwater. 1. There is no running water or bathroom facilities at the lighthouse (although there are Port-a-Potties set up in the Park area in the summer months). As you would do with any hike, bring water for yourself. 2. Wear comfortable shoes. Use caution. The breakwater is made of granite blocks which can be slippery when wet. 3. Dress warmly. There is always a breeze on the breakwater and as you approach the lighthouse (almost a mile “out to sea”) there is a noticeable decrease in temperature. |

Edgecomb State Historic Site is a blockhouse that pre-dates the War of 1812.
You can go inside the blockhouse and look at the scenic views from the musket
ports. The Sheepscot River surrounds the 3-acre park. Informational kiosks explain the important history of the building to “block” enemies from accessing the once robust port of Wiscasset (“wiss-CAH-sit”). Open 9:00 a.m. to sunset daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Fee charged. Visitors may continue to enjoy the park during the off season by parking outside the gate and walking in during these same hours. Please be aware that facilities are closed during the off season. |

a a 1.25-mile in-town recreational loop linking the Frank J. Wood Bridge to
the historic Androscoggin Swinging Bridge along the Androscoggin River in both Brunswick and Topsham. Androscoggin Swinging Bridge was built in 1892 to accommodate mill workers walking to work at the nearby mill. The bridge has some “give” to it (nothing too nauseating) and spans just 300 feet. Maine’s fall foliage is especially stunning from this viewpoint. |

Ogunquit | Marginal Way | Ogunquit, ME | 9-Oct-25 | Ogunquit, ME | 9-Oct-25 | Enjoy an ocean-side walk with plenty of
opportunities to sit and take in the gorgeous view. Only 1.25 miles long, the
cliff walk wends its way starting at one end near The Sparhawk Oceanfront
Resort on Shore Road and brings you along a paved path, past stately hotels
and inns, and rocky beaches to Perkins Cove. There are 39 benches located at ideal viewing spots all along the path. Admire the little lighthouse overlooking Ogunquit Beach, enjoy watching sailboats pass by or step off the path to explore a beach or rocky cove. Once you reach Perkins Cove, you can watch the lobster boats come in and maybe pick up today’s catch for dinner or grab some take out from one of the many restaurants nestled along this tiny harbor. One of the best things about Marginal Way is that the walk is so short, you are happy to turn around and do it all over again. Maybe time it so you can catch the sun as it sets to the west or head out early enough in the morning to enjoy the sun rise over the ocean. |
