parking lot by the bluff. The second access from Highway 11, Punaluu Road,
has a turnoff for a smaller, unpaved parking area.
Park facilities include camping, restrooms, showers, picnic tables,
pavilions, water fountains, a concession stand and parking. |

Travel south on Route 19 along the Hamakua
Coast until you pass the 8 mile marker.
Look for the blinking yellow light with the sign that says "Old
Mamalahoa Hwy" on the right side of the road. Make the next left onto the Senic
Route. About 1.5 miles on the right is

The short climb to the top of the rainbow falls
is well worth the effort. As you climb up along the left shoulder of the
falls (left, when facing the rainbow falls) you walk past lush vegetation and
some HUGE banyan trees. After walking for a few minutes you will be rewarded

Kaumana Caves State Park between the 4 and 5
mile markers (right after 4 mm) from Hwy. 200 (the Saddle Road). The parking
area is on the south side of the road, but the park is on the north
side.
Carefully cross Hwy. 200 (Kaumana Dr.) and simply descend the steep metal
staircase into the collapsed skylight of the lava tube. You can explore a
short way in both directions before the lava tube enters private property.
Bring a flashlight if you intend to travel beyond the cave entrances. |

Two step (center-left, in the distance) is
located right next to the Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical
Park.
There is no dedicated parking lot so you have to leave your car along the
road. Because of this, and because the sky will often become cloudy later in
the day, mornings are the best time to snorkel here. If you can make it
early, we recommend that you get in the water no later than 10 A.M. There are
no concession stands or showers. Remember
to bring your own food and water.
