Lugano

Lugano is a city in southern Switzerland’s Italian-speaking Ticino region. Its Swiss-Mediterranean mix of cultures is closely related to that of Italy’s northern Lombardy region. This mix is reflected in its architecture and cuisine. The city stands on the northern shore of glacial Lake Lugano, surrounded by mountains. Its main square, Piazza della Riforma, is ringed with pastel-colored, neoclassical palazzi

Gandria (Lunch)

Olive Tree Trail Hike

A route with views across Lake Lugano, on which a landscape reminiscent of the Mediterranean can be enjoyed. The trail winds between Castagnola and Gandria, passes across the remains of old olive groves and areas on which this prized tree is again being planted.
Access to the trail is either in Castagnola (near the old community center) or in Gandria (near the parking lot above the village, at the main road). The trail is sign-posted with the olive tree logo and at certain intervals there are display panels.
