The trail leads from Interlaken Ost railway station along the River Aare to the valley station of the Harder Railway and in many, sometimes very steep, turns through the Bleiki forest to the Falkenfluh - a lookout point located above the Hardermannli rock face. The rock below the railings is practically perpendicular; Interlaken can be seen in a bird's eye view over the magnificent summits of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The well-developed mountain trail then continues in a pleasant climb over wide Alpine meadows, with a view of Lake Thun and the pyramid-shape of the Niesen. trail from the main complex out to Mönchsjochhütte may look short and easy,
but it takes 45 minutes to walk this distance (2.4 km one-way). To get to Mönchsjochhütte, it is an uphill walk on a well-groomed snow trail. It looks easy in photos, but at this elevation, it’s more challenging than you might expect. Small hills take your breath away. In the summer, as the sun warms up the snow, it can get slushy which makes walking more difficult. But the views over the Aletsch Glacier are magnificent. It really feels like you are walking on top of the world. Once at Mönchsjochhütte, enjoy the view. It’s warm and cozy inside of the hut. This would be a nice place to get a warm drink and a snack. Or, if you are here midday, consider having lunch. |

Kleine Scheidegg. The highlight is the high-Alpine surroundings, with

mountain hut, which used to be located on the northeast ridge of the Eiger. A
look inside gives a fascinating insight into the Spartan conditions in the
Alpine pioneering days. After the underpass, there is the beautiful Chilchli (tiny church). It is a former Jungfrau Railway transformer station, Today, the listed building hosts an exhibition on ascents of the Eiger North Face. The nearby man-made Fallbodensee (lake) serves as a reservoir to make artificial snow for the surrounding ski pistes in early winter. One part of the lake is only knee deep and can be paddled in; benches in the water offer the chance of a refreshing footbath. |

series of waterfalls located entirely within a mountain. Trümmelbach Falls is an immensely powerful waterfall, carrying up to 20,000 liters of water per second. The water thunders through these caverns and is almost deafening. Ride an elevator to the upper levels and then walk on a series of staircases to different viewing platforms. It’s loud, it’s chilly (even in the summer months), and you could get wet. If it is a rainy day, this is one of the best things to do in the Jungfrau region. |

Those with a bit more energy can continue on a 15-minute loop that goes along the ridge above Hotel Pilatus-Kulm (toward the biggest radar station in Switzerland, housed in an off-limits military zone), down some steep stairs, and around to the other side of the mountain. From here, you’ll follow the “Dragonpath”—carved through tunnels and viewpoints in the rock—and eventually return to the visitors center. On the way, you’ll look out over a tiny church (and its graveyard) clinging to the sharp crest of a ridge—this is the Klimsenkapelle, built in 1861. |
